Pasted web links have stopped working...

Hi

When i copy and paste web links into text, be it in emails or documents, they no longer turn blue and act as a link to the site, they simply stay as black normal text. Have I altered something? Thanks

In textedit?
I ask because you can change it's behaviour in Preferences or might be a corrupt Preference file.
