i made a really stupid mistake and bought an 80 pin PATA hardrive, or Ultra ATA, instead of buying a SATA which is what i thought i was getting. is there an easy and inexpensive PATA controller that i can buy and install in my Power Mac G5? i've got the dual 2.3 gig G5 machine from 2005. if anyone can knows of a solution, that would be great

Short answer - no not cheaply and easily enough, while maintaining reliable compatibility. A Sonnet Tempo ATA would do it. But better just to sell the drive and buy a SATA one.

BTW: assuming you can't send the drive back to the seller for a refund, when you go to sell it off, it's a 40 pin UltraATA (EIDE, Parallel ATA) drive, not an 80 pin.
