You wouldn't want to use an app that was written for OS X 10.4 on El Cap or Sierra and hasn't been updated for newer OS versions.
Windows users use apps that were written ages ago without any updates and they're fine, I know because I was one of them, it's iOS 7 that spoiled us with UI updates ;)

Also, there're many alternatives to Caffeine in the App Store.

Ive tried Pixelmator in a very early version, seems to be fine. Adobe is the industry standard, so theres no way around it as a professional, especially if you have to work togehter in bigger teams, with clients or other companies.
Pixelmator got some really great updates, it's an amazing app now but if you're into photo editing, give Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer a try.

like I said, I have to use the Adobe CC because of my professional work and working in Teams, its the industry standard. Also I'm happy with the Adobe software, no need to swtich :)

I havent thought about this yet, this was quite normal for me to sometimes use software from 1999 to get certain niche tasks done. But the need for this comes up so rarely, I think I can do without on Mac or switch to one of my windows machines.

Do you have one or two links for Caffeine-like apps in the App Store, please?
