since the iphone has the ability to do many features it lacks,,
then its not a problem with the phone i have

its a problem with the software developers or whoever is in charge of the iphones firmware

How about using some punctuation, spelling checks and grammatical accuracy.

haha, nicely put.

What do I really need to write a college essay for you guys, I'm writing two freaking sentences. :D

Good luck working for Wendy's for the rest of your life. You won't even have to count out the change for the customer.

I guess I should have left off all punctuation, made some spelling errors and used grammatically incorrect form for you to understand this post but, oh well.

I like how the OP is not even responding in the thread anymore. It's because his claims, although partly true, were redundant and immature. Now that he's ignoring his own thread, I say it be closed.

Basically, if I wanted to reply to some of these ignorant posts in this thread I would just get banned from the best Apple message board on the internet.

Define "ignorant."

Do you mean "ignorant" as in can't do a basic search or as in can't express one's self in proper sentences?

Actually, fanboys should understand as well. Being a fanboy myself I know other Apple products aren't missing a bunch of basic promised features when they are released.

Yes some features aren't in the iPhone, but when were they ever promised? The problem with this thread isn't that the complaints are invalid. It's that there are already countless threads on the same topic that could have been resurrected if the OP wanted to add his voice to the chorus.

Yes, Steve Jobs was pushing a main selling point of the phone is the ability to update its software with new features. Watch Macworld 07. These features should be here by now.

When did he promise any of these features would be here by this date? He did say some things would be here in September, but there's still time left for that. He never promised video recording or MMS, though.

Sorry, I meant Macworld 08. And yeah, its like the most advanced phone in the world. People who by Apple products are not used to waiting for basic features that other products come with. When Steve Jobs promises regular software updates, and major features are still missing, loyal Apple fans start to wonder.

Assumptions on our part are not the same as promises on Apple's part. Before the 3G was introduced, I was hoping and expecting it to have three features missing from the original. These features kept me from getting the original as I assumed the next one would have them. Those are video recording, GPS, and 3G. Well, two out of three was good enough for me and I hope we get video recording soon, but I also realize no one ever promised it would be there for non JB phones. I am disappointed it isn't there, yet, but not so much that I would start another thread on the subject and blame Apple for not delivering on my assumptions.

They had it right 20 years ago with the Newton. What's going on here?

Its really not as simple as porting over the newtons copy and paste, its completely different. Gestures that mean nothing on the newton are responsible for several vital functions on the iphone (like moving about a page or zooming).

I think they will implement it at somepoint.

TBH tho i dont really care because it doesnt effect my useage.

Threads with titles that are non descriptive of content and deliberately provocative like this one should be dealt with by the mods IMHO.

You should be banned for wasting the board's space with redundant posts and for not using the search feature.

If you want to complain to someone find a shrink, if you want to be a part of a great forum, then use it's features, such as search.

Honestly, OP, this thread should not be here. This has been discussed to death elsewhere.

Apple will put those features in if/when it wants to. It does not have to listen to you. And it's a good thing it didn't listen to people like you while creating the iPhone.

Have you ever heard of "feature creep"? More features does not mean better unless they are well integrated and useful. Copy paste would be useful for some, yes, but it depends on how properly it's implemented.
