The MegaMillions lotto odds are like 147,000,000 to 1 .

not -- 139804761974166 to 1

The MegaMillions Lotto is a 12 state lottery..

The last winner of MegaMillions won $340 million dollars before taxes..

...OK I just hit the numbers on my keyboard.
I do that when I make up all my statistics.

13.243% of all MacRumorers knew this already, geez. :D

and after taxes, $42 million... ;) :)
Only if you live in California. :p

Everywhere else it was 48-9% for cash in the PowerBall, then they hold back 25% federal and your max state tax.

But they do ask you to go see an accountant, because there are the quarterly fed tax payments to make for the other 10% you owe the fed.

If it's the end of the year, it's all in 1 payment. :(

So it's a little over a third for MegaMillions, a little under that for PowerBall in most states.

At least they haven't flipped lottery winnings to Self Employement earnings yet... :p

Edit: Self-Employment would let the fed steal another 12.5% in social security payments, just wait the fed needs more money and the lottery may be it.

And you want to be Apple's CFO?! ;) :)

Guess that I was in the other 86.757% of MacRumorers. :)

see, the first time I hit the numbers, it was a percentage OVER 100, so I didn't think that'd work.

I clicked *somewhere* in the number and added a decimal.

and that is how you make numbers.

KT "this year, we had 13415% growth, with $23451 BILLION in profits."

Actually, I'd say your statement is one of mathematical illiteracy.

Sure 1 in 80 million aren't great odds... but they are infinitely better than the 1/∞ odds you seem to favor.

Don't worry, with revenue growth like that in a single quarter using made up numbers...

I'm quite sure that somebody here would be visiting you in federal prison. :D

Though I'm sure you prison paypal donation link would be more interesting than the high school prison paypal donation link.

A whole different class of pervert would be chasing you then. :p

Actually I think he's favouring a 1:1 odds of a steady interest rate.

I think this thread is horrifying. Way too many numbers. My head hurts now.

And I'm sure the 4/10 of a cent on his $1 will serve him well. :)

Or you can use ING at 3.4%. Not bad when you have a couple hundred grand in the bank. ;)

Please note that this is only because there are people waiting for a house to be built.

Hickman, my god man! Look at that 'tar! :)

I'm thinking of adding a paypal donation link to my signature. Gotta figure out a way of suckering folks into giving me money.

Hrm....

I just got to 500 today and was experimenting with avatars. Not sure which one you saw.

By the way...ING went up to 3.5% today. ;)

It's real easy.

Step one: Flutter eyelashes
2: puppy dog eyes
3: ask real nicely. IE "You want to buy a ___ from me, right?"
4. flutter eyelashes some more
5: I WIN! $52.50 in one night. Booya!

$52.50? Sounds like I need to get a donation link. Would anybody contribute to the "Buy a bike for Brian" fund?
