The story on that link is an unusal circumstance and I can see paypal's position though their customer service did a bad job of explaining it.

Accepting money for vaporware/product is precarious for them and refunding a year later could also be an issue.

Did that guy check with Paypal ahead of assuming it would be ok to collect funds for that type of activitiy...doubtful.

Matter of fact, this is not new for paypal...they have taken the same action before.

So I have no sympathy for that guy and recommend he provide the documents to paypal or refund the money to all.

I can't wait to see some type of mobile wallet be used in our every day lifestyle. We have mobile plane tickets, QR scanners, etc. and there's nothing to hold us back. Lets just hope that stores actually implement it.

It's the revolution :)

I think the freezing quidelines for paypal mirror your bank. The only time I have had funds frozen is on refunds, or when i was brand new.

Well consider yourself lucky. As a seller I've been using them since they started, and have done hundreds of thousands of dollars of business through them over the years.

Over the last couple years, they have entered a cycle where they say the account is clear, I sell a load, get paid, then they put month-long holds on the funds, shut me out of the account, until after a week of playing phone tag, I reach their psychotic ex-NYPD d$%^head of a "Fraud Investigator", then send them email copies of everything from my birth certificate, social security papers, previous years taxes, and credit report, before I can even have access to my account again, at which time they hold the funds for another two months before I lose my $%^ and have the attorney draft them another letter, after which I get my money and my acct is in the clear again, until I sell the next batch, which results in exactly the same routine again.

I can't even tell you how much it's cost me to fool around with these idiots over the years. There are very few things in this world I would love to see the complete and utter destruction of. Ebay and paypal are two of them.
