why not get him a $700 eMac?

not glamourous, but it is pretty fast (esp. compared to PBs) and will kepe him away from your baby. If he is saving for a $2.5k laptop, $700 wouldn't bee too far out of his range.

that's a great idea and it's also crossed my mind. we've had an eMac in the house, but now that I sold it and got a PM G5 I think we're spoiled for its looks and relative quietness.

back to the topic of cleaning, keeping the G5 dust-free is a challenge. I'll probably have to put it in a different room. where it is, it gets direct sunlight for about an hour or so a day, and it's in a big carpeted room.
