I have my PB G4 17 1.33 apart. I have been having lockup/kernal panics on a regular basis. The service manual calls for thermal pads and thermal paste, I have the paste, not the pads. Think this will cause any problems down the line if the paste is applied carefully?

Do not replace a thermal pad with thermal paste. If the original pads are not damaged or dried out, they can be reused.

On a 17" model, there is too great of a gap between the heatsink for paste to safely cool. It is best to pick up a pad at the local parts store than to have to do it over.

The pads are gone, there was white goo of a strange consistency.
I'll find some pads.
