itunes? 6.0.2

I just wanted to say that the only difference that I have made in my computer between last night and this morning was to start downloading pod cast for the first time. It was also the first time I used itunes 6.0.2 which causes problems when fixing permissions on panther anyway.

Just thought I would throw that out there

I had absolutely 100% the same problem on my 12" powerbook.

Turns out a bit of crud/hair/etc. had got into the fan/vent somehow and when the laptop was tilted it moved into its "path" and so made the buzzing noise.

Blasted the fan vents with a can of air, problem solved.

Try cleaning out the computer...thats an idea that wasn't thought of until the last poster. :) The buzzing noise can only be either the hd failing....something on the fan... or if its coming from the speakers... the speakers are grounding. That's all that could possibly be buzzing from what I can think of.

I used some pressured air can thingie in order to 'clean' my superdrive, hence the fact that it got stuck in the fan instead...

Always use suction :D

clicking noise

I have a pb 17" that just this morning started suffering from a similar kind of clicking sound. It sounded like a ticking time bomb. It seems to work fine, but if I shift it just wrong or flex it at all, it starts making the noise. If I tap on the bottom of the computer, or flex it just right, it stops.

I'll try the air can to see if that works.

I'm wondering how this situation netted out for anyone else who's experienced it. Anyone have anything to report?

My 15" PB has been making having this noise-on-tilt issue for a couple weeks. The machine is quite when stationary, but if the machine is tilted, even a very tiny amount, it makes a lightsabre/housefly hum/buzz. The noise only happens whil the machine is in motion, that is to say if I begin tilting the machine it buzzes, but if i stop with the machine at an angle the buzzing stops - so the noise is related to the PB being in a state of rotational movement and not tied to any particular angle that the PB happens to be tilted at/to.

Like previous posters I'm assuming HD, but hoping it's the fan. Very eager to hear if the noise has predicted disaster for others, or if it's just a benign nuissance. Any insight appreciated!

Well after that post the noise-on-tilt got louder and then the PB started to have problems turning off and on and waking up from sleep. I went to the apple store and they fixed it. I first thought and then hoped that it was the fan as well. But it was a dying HD that needed to be replaced. I recommend that you back up everything while you still have a working HD...

When my PB has the fans on max, when you lose it and move it the fans sound like they buzz. :) I would say not to worry about it.

and another thing

before I took it in to get it fixed, aside from the noise there was another sign. I tried to repair disk, and every time I would click repair or verify, the whole computer would freeze.

Best advice for either the noise problem to be from the HD or hairs in the fan, back up. It's the best thing that came out of this whole mess for me.
