PC Applications' Serial codes reuse?

Hello! I am a relatively new switcher and was wondering about 1) if this is legal and 2) if it is possible to download trial copies of software I already purchased for my pc and use the serial code for the mac version? I am reformating my pc hard drive and giving it to my parents so the software isn't being reused (they have no need for dreamweaver/painter etc). Can it be done and is this legit, and if not can I get a discount or something to ease the cost of transitioning?😀

Some apps offer a relatively low-cost sidegrade facility. Others do not. Check the vendor of each of the apps you want to transition.

Thanks, had heard of upgrading but never sidegrading (off to adobe's site, keeping my fingers crossed..)
