PC card for G4 Powerbook & OS upgrade

I'm looking for a PCI cardbus reader that will enable me to connect an external hard drive via eSata ... I have a G4 Powerbook running OS X 10.4.11

Also does anyone know if I can upgrade the OS to 10.5 ? I've heard differing opinions on that ..

Yes, technically you can upgrade your PB to Mac OS X 10.5 if you have at least a G4 with 867MHz and 512MB RAM. More is highly recommended though, as Leopard is hungrier than Tiger.
You can't install Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard though, as it does not include the binaries (or code) for your PPC Mac.
