I don't currently have an iOS 5 device, but from what I have read, iOS 5 really can do just about everything on its own. But what about getting music on the device? Unless I am missing something, it seems there is no way to get your music on the device without a computer running iTunes.

Is this correct? Or is there some information that I am missing something?

If it's music from CD's then you'll need a computer, otherwise download via iTunes on your iPhone.

You can purchase music on your iOS device (iPhone/iPad) from the iTunes Music Store and have it download directly to the device without a computer, if that's something you want.

You can purchase music from your iOS device and, thanks to iCloud, any music you already bought on iTunes can be downloaded on your device.
If you're in USA music that's not been purchased from Apple but is in your local iTunes library (CD's you've ripped for instance) can also be "matched" in the cloud and pushed into your iOS device, for $25 a year.
