I'm going back to Mac from my PC and was wondering if formatting is still an issue on the iDevices in order to sync with iTunes. It's bothering me because the jailbreak is coming out soon and if I needed to restore I would have to reformat. I don't have the Mac yet, I'm waiting for a refresh on the iMac, so I will already be jailbroken most likely. I'm not worried about losing my jb just my backup with all my apps and cydia tweaks. iPad and iPhone both so it's a lot of customization between them.

Shouldn't be an issue with iOS devices, I've plugged my iPhone into a PC and downloaded images etc before even though I'm a mac user.

    Not an issue

It was only an issue on the Hard Drive based iPods.

Definitely not an issue. I made the PC->Mac switch earlier this year.
