Hello everyone. I just went out and got a brand new iMac the other day, my first mac computer. Before this, I have had a toshiba laptop, which has a 4-pin firewire port on it. I was under the impression that I could hook the two up via firewire and transfer data that way, however, regardless of the many instructions i have followed, I cannot get this to work. Does anyone know how I can hook a Windows 7 computer to and iMac running Lion? I have the two hooked up, but neither recognize that there is a firewire device. I cant find any options in Windows for the firewire port, it simply doesnt recognize it. I have tried migration assistant but it also cannot make the connection.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Following Apple's instructions always work for me. First you have 90 days of free AppleCare tech support, look in your manual for the phone number and they will answer any questions you may have.

You can also find Apple's instructions for migrating data from your Windows machine to your iMac by using:
