No joy with the iMacs, but i HAVE found the airport expresses in stock in Grimsby and Bexhill if that's useful to anyone.

Checked the deal on hotukdeals and no one their can find stock either. They may have had a few to clear, you never know maybe new iMacs are on their way!

Yep, I meticulously searched up and down the UK and found nothing. Gonna check tomorrow morning though, just in case something changes :)

Well it did change but not in the way that we want it to :(

Both PC Worlds in Oxford and Reading have THIS iMac in stock but at a price of £799.

I wasn't happy and had a discussion with the Manager. He couldn't explain why the exact same model sat in the demo area was at that price.

I consider this a scam! Sell a couple off to drag people in!

Once again confirming what I think of PC World

It's the same for the AirPort Extremes. I went into my local store today and they are all in a row with a £65 price tag on, yet online they are £15. They didn't try to charge me £65 but I don't know if it's because I reserved it beforehand. But other people who don't know they are selling £15 might pay full whack!

A bargain at £15 though! I'm thinking about getting another for the back bedroom.

Is that in Grimsby? Im tempted to paddle over the humber and grab one if theres any left.

Well yeah, for the petrol cost and bridge toll...its still about £35-40 cheaper than usual retail. Are there different variations of them tho? These might be old

Yeah they are the older version that doesn't have wireless N but it depends what you want it for - I got mine for AirTunes and wireless printing really so not having N is not a problem for me as I already have an N router.

Its very possible that another one of the DSG Group may have a sale, as soon as that rolls round, I will be straight onto the Apple Page and reserving my iMac if its reduced.

Ah right. Fair enough. Yeah I'd want one for wireless music in different rooms. so sounds like it would suit...shame there's no more left. I couldnt even find them instore in Hull today.

interesting how the £328 version is out of stock everywhere yet the exact same model at £799 is available to most stores.

Yep that's exactly what I said earlier today after coming back from a PC World store, (and speaking to another).

I've emailed them to complain, (customer.services@pcworld.co.uk of anyone's interested).

Doubt I'll get a reply but it allowed me to vent my spleen at them, and asked them to reply to me stating what the difference between the sale and 'full price' model was, because I wasn't aware of any differences!

What also annoyed me is that the £799 one didn't even have a price on and I had to virtually drag a PC World staff member to get the price for me, and then find the manager to have our discussion.

Like I also said earlier, just confirms what I think about PC World, hate them hate them hate them! And Curry's!!

maybe its just my PC but i cant search on the pc world website right now and cant get to the cheap one but from memory i think the £328 had a 320GB hard drive. isnt it only supposed to be 250GB if its a stock model?

It has disappeared now I think off the website.

They had 2 20" iMacs out. Both of them weren't password protected so I could get to 'About this Mac'.

Not sure if the one without the price on had a 250Gb HDD but I got 'excited', the other one was a 2.6 Intel Core 2 Duo ... I'm pretty sure it also had a 320Gb HDD.

I would have considered the display one if it was the Sale one however the store was in the middle of a refurb and ALL the computers on display were covered in dust, (I wiped the screen and there wasn't any dust behind the glass but that doesn't mean the internals weren't covered in it.

I'm still seeing it on the website, http://www.pcworld.co.uk:80/martprd...ProductList&category_oid=-35292&show_all=true very angry at PC World and will be composing an email tomorrow to vent my stress.

Arg ive got a mate that manages a currys store. He searched the country for me and found an airport express not too far away that was a display item...i said i'd take it. They went to check it while i was on the phone then realised they didnt have any. They apparently say they have a display item of everything on stock system but sometimes they dont, I did think it was weird that they would 'display' an airport express...what for?! so i didnt get one:mad:

Ah crap...so there's no more Express's anywhere? I've just bought a G4 iMac and I couldnt have done with one for that. I dont think its got wireless in in. If anyone finds one, let me know please! :p

It was clearance, not sale, right? Clearance is typically ex-display, open box etc. That's why there were few. Irritating but hardly misleading. It was in the CLEARANCE section, not 'sale'.

Oh dear! Had a response from PC World:

Dear David

Thank you for your email dated 22nd September 2008.

I can confirm that the original iMac had the older operating system and is now an end of line product and will not be stocked again. The model that is shown on our website costs £799.00 and has Leopard OS and this is current line.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. Whilst it is always disappointing to hear from a dissatisfied customer, it is by receiving correspondence such as yours that we can effectively address customer care issues and improve our service.

Yours sincerely,

PC World Customer Services

Er, didn't the Alu iMacs get released with Leopard!?

Thought I would double-check before I reply back!!

To the previous poster, it's not there now (because the Sale has ended) but I don't believe this was being advertised as a clearance product (even though it clearly was due to the price!).
