Can you replace the SSD chip that is inside the Accelsior E2, or will it only work with the one it came with? It looks like there's 2 plastic lock pieces drilled into one of the chips connecting the main board, maybe preventing it from being removed.

Was just wondering if this is a typical user swappable piece that people do, if not I won't meddle with it.
 
If it is possible, you don't get more speed. This card is limited to PCIe x2 ~800 MB/s
if you're talking about the replacing the SSD "blades", YES, you can replace them, at least through OWC.
They offer an upgrade/trade-in program here

It should take other brands of PCI-e sticks, but not sure if OWC's firmware would work with them.
