I have just been sent a letter with a link and it ends in PDF. how can I open it by clicking on it? I scanned the page but it won't open

Normally it'll open in a browser window from where you can download it.

But...

NEVER OPEN ANYTHING YOU DON'T TRUST. In Mail, if you hover the mouse over the link it should show the URL. Does that look like you're expecting and not some scammer's domain.

does it end in .pdf - the dot is important - maybe the dot got removed somehow?

You can also press CTL + click on the file to open with preview?

I
Well what happened when you clicked on it?

And what do you mean you scanned the page but it won’t open?
Nothing, I scanned it to send it on to someone and while I did I tried to click on it to open it in the browser but it would and when I put the link in the address bar safari wouldn't open it.

I tried CTRL put won't open it I get the curser going into a cross symbol. It was my mistake saying it ended pdf because what has happened is its a URL but it continues with what the url contains added right next to the URL without a space as if the rest is part of the URL ending in PDF

not sure I understand - can you download the linked file to your desktop or downloads folder?

once the file is downloaded it should be a PDF?

Ok, I think I understand what you mean. I'm assuming the letter was printed and sent to you in the mail. If you scan the letter and open it on your computer it won't be a click-able link. What you have to do is type that link exactly how it is in the letter into safari (or your browser of choice). That way you can read the PDF.

It's on my Desktop That's where it always been. Heres the scanned file, there's nothing personal in it, but you can see the link yourself

No, it came to me as a printed letter, I scanned it to my Mac but. the link didn't open, so as you said I typed the address out Manually, but Safari wouldn't open it, so I then used Opera and the same thing happened that wouldn't open it either Scan.jpeg

You really should have said all this in your first post

Thanks, it opened. Yes I know it's a mouthful of a link that's why I was hoping I'd be able to open it in Safari instead of typing it in;-) How did you manage to get it to open if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again

Because the whole link is underlined, it makes underscores “_” appear as spaces. That might’ve been what tripped you up. Keep well.

Yes the underline did trip me up to your right as you say I couldn't see the underscores because of the underlining, it must've been my eyesight lol. Mind I'm surprised you saw them. But thanks again
