.pdf problem in mail.

I have a .pdf file that my mac cannot open. I used text edit to open the file and it looks like a bunch of code.

Do I need to download a plug-in from Adobe to be able to read this? I called the person that sent me the file and she said I might not have what I need to open the file. I asked her if she could re send it to me and a .doc or .rtf

Any help would be great.

Try opening with Preview or download and install Adobe Reader.

Preview did not work, and I downloaded Adobe Reader, but it turns out that the file is damaged. Oh well

That would have been my next suggestion. Have her resend the pdf.
