Does anybody know a good program to split a pdf page in two? Not splitting a pdf into two pdf's, but one page into two pages within the pdf.

I have some articles at work that were photocopied 2 pages into 1. Now they are pdf's, but I want to split each of those pages in half. I have had terrible luck with PDF clerk pro, where I have to take 8 steps and it makes duplicates of all pages in the process.

I have documents with a large number of pages, so I'd prefer not to having to do it one page at a time.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

that's what I first assumed, but couldn't figure out how to do it. Is there an obvious function I'm missing in acrobat?

As I no longer have a need for Acrobat, I don't have it installed, so I can't show you the exact commands. However, you should be able to edit any .pdf file and make whatever changes you want. You should be able to delete information from a document. You could save two copies of the doc, then open the first copy and delete the 2nd half of the page. Then open the 2nd copy and delete the first half of the page. Then join the two pages into one document. If, however, the scan shows up as an image in the .pdf, you'd have to crop the image to remove what you don't want.

I think that would be easy if I was working with a few pages, but I have some docs that are over 100 pages long. Does anyone else know if there is an easy way to cut the pages in half to make 1 page two separate pages?

Finally figured out how to make it work in PDFClerk Pro. There was a problem with the program and I had to choose export to pdf before splitting it, then when I reopen it I can split all the pages at once.

Never did get it to work well in Adobe.

I agree with Greg. Found this thread through Google search and after attempting many different ways, PDFClerk Pro did what I need. It's also a fairly pretty Cocoa UI.

Like many others, I had many PDFs of scanned documents which showed two pages in the space of one horizontal (or landscape) A4 page. I wanted to split them all down the middle to get twice as many vertical, or portrait, A4 sized pages to read on my iPad.

Splitting pages in half with PDFClerk Pro is a snap. Select all pages of the PDF you want to split in half, then right click to select "Split Pages Vertically". Some instructions pop up about how to adjust the split, then you hit Option+Return to split all pages.

In Demo mode you can export as PDF with a watermark, but so far it has no other limitations that I've encountered. If you need to process a lot of documents with ease, I'd say this is definitely worth the $45.

@jayrobinson:

Thanks for your very helpful advice. I found this thread with a Yahoo search and since I have Sintra's PDF Nomad, I tried it to see if it would work as Clerk does. I'm happy to report that your instructions as applied to PDF Nomad worked like a charm in late 2013.

Cheers!
