Has anyone gotten a PDF in mail running iOS 4.0 GM? When you click to download the file it shows up as an image and it only shows the first page.

Basically. Mail is treating PDF files as images. Uh oh...

Just checked some PDFs that I have viewed all the time before 4.0 and yes mine is now showing up as a single image too :( Hope there is a quick fix.

Hmm I wonder why it did it for you for so long. It would use some kind of viewer for me until now. I would have no problem if it displayed every page as an image as I like the integration, but only seeing page one sucks.

It's supposed to open with Quick view. Right now it's just embedding it in the email itself. Just got home so i'll upload a pic.

Here we go. This document is 5 pages long but I can only see the first page. Strange that it treats it like that.

i think that your going to be able to open it in ibooks when they release the iphone version to the app store...

Of course this is no reason to take away or mess up what you could already do.

For comparison, this is whats supposed to happen.

Yes, but its supposed to give you the choice like the ipad does of either using quick look which is the built in viewer or an application of your choosing.

Good point. Hopefully once Ibooks is installed we'll be set.

Just confirming that my 3GS running iOS 4.0 GM is experiencing this same issue. Hoping iBooks fixes.

It does the same thing now on my iPad. Used to be able to save PDFs and read them in Goodreader. Not anymore. Can only read the first page within body of email and nothing more. This sucks.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

Works fine or me, can view PDFs with multiple pages with out any issues...

Mine was fixed today after installing iBooks. Not on past/delivered e-mails, but on new e-mails.

I'm guessing you were probably trying it on past e-mails, so try e-mailing yourself a PDF now.

I'm still having the issue. I've installed iBooks, mailed myself a new email with a pdf attachment, still having the issue. Anyone else have any other thoughts?

Okay, I lied, kind of...it's still not working with certain PDFs. I'm still trying to figure this one out. Out of the five different test PDFs I've sent myself, only two have worked properly.

What's fixed this in a lot of cases, including mine, is to uninstall any apps that access PDFs -- Stanza, air share, etc, through iTunes. This is a crucial step, don't uninstall them on the phone, uninstall them from the apps tab in iTunes. Sync your phone. Then reset your phone --for those that don't know how, hold the home screen button and on/off button down at the same time, continue holding it past the on/off slider until you see an apple on a black screen, then let go. After the phone resets, pdfs should be accessible in email again. Good luck.

Try adding any text at all to the message area and then the pdf should show up as an attachment, not inline. Same thing happens with photos.

This is not an iOS4 issue, I had the same problem on my iPad last night! I was sent a PDF but it showed as an image and could only see the first page. I forwarded it to a friend this morning and he recieved it as a PDF on his iPad... odd.

Yup, I unchecked them in the apps tab, resynced and rebooted the phone and everything was normal, saw em in quicklook and had the option to use Ibooks. I wonder what changed with the document sharing feature that it is intercepted before it gets to quick look. Weird. Hope it gets fixed something soon
