After downlaoding soem HD trailers from iTunes store, I get the following error message:

"Peaceful Warrior" was not copied to the Apple TV "name" because it cannot be played on this Apple TV.

    It runs from within iTunes..

    Anyone else had this problem?

    Meanmachine.

    Similar Music Video problem

I have had a similar message with the music video
This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race from FallOut Boy (Disclaimer: My daughter bought this!)

It always fails to copy every time I sync despite having plenty of space. I love my Apple TV but suspect it's having indigestion on some names.

Does it work with other HD trailers?

I had this problem when content was more than 8-9mb/s. Don't know exactly how much. But, it just can't play it. I had to re-encode them.

the HD trailer from apple site cannot be play on Apple TV, check the video specification and it doesn't support 720P HD materials.

Fairly easy answer. The AppleTV only supports the following video formats:

H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps

MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps.

So, if you have a 720p trailer, it must be less than 5000kbps.

What you can do to watch the HD trailers on your apple TV is download them in 720 (not 1080, it just won't work), add them as a regular movie to itunes when the download is finished and then, send it to your apple TV.

The quality is great and it'll work just fine :)

This is what I thought, but I have played some 720p files at over 6Mbps  No rhyme or reason that I can see...

All the HD content from the apple.com doesn't play though. It's quite poor really I have to say...

I can only hope that future firmware updates will fix it, though I fear it is a hardware limitation.

Expect to see mine on Ebay soon!

Look on the bright side - Peaceful Warrior has received terrible reviews, so you're not missing much :)

    Can Not be played

    Two Questions:

how do I know what frame rate, etc. a movie is saved at? Also, What if I am positive that this movie isn't in HD?
