We need more streaming services!
I prefer qBitTorrent though.

🏴‍☠️ or Buy. The price most streaming services charge exceeded the value I place on the content they offer a while ago. Peacock was the first one I canceled.
If you don’t see the value, you shouldn’t subscribe. But you also shouldn’t pirate. You’re not entitled to the content.

While I'm not pumped about the price increase, Peacock is the one streaming service I find enough value in to keep paying. Mostly for professional cycling, but they also have a decent number of NFL games & some big 10 football games. Obviously if the sports content is worth it depends on what your teams/ sports are, but for me, it's been great. The Tour de France has been really exciting this year. I do wish it was less expensive, but it is what it is.

What a rip off. The only thing that Peacock offers is Sports coverage and I dislike paying for sports. Barely any new series/movies. And if you need sports, just wait until Black Friday and get it cheap. These streaming services are getting so greedy. Wish people would stop subscribing to them.
How can streaming services be getting greedy when they’ve barely started making any profit?

So, you're an advocate for illegal activities? Good to know.

Won't someone think of the poor media conglomerate executives?

LMAOOO!!!! $11 with ads. I can’t wait for them to shut it down and blame something other than their greed.

actually, they’re just trying to charge what’s necessary to break even or slightly turn a profit. The streaming business is almost impossible to make money with on its own unless it is propped up or subsidized by some other business. Hence why Netflix is priced into the stratosphere and Disney and Apple are the only other ones staying alive.
Doesn’t your second post contradict your first post?😂
I fully agree with your second post. I think the future of the entertainment industry is bleak.

Amazon will certainly make the cut too but Peacock is going under whatever they do. Jacking up the price will just run off more subscribers, leading to a death spiral.

You think rich execs are the main ones affected? Most of my entrainment industry friends are out of work right now because there are barely any projects going on because studios are downsizing because less money is coming in because people don’t value content anymore because of piracy. Yes, piracy is stealing and yes it hurts a lot of regular people.

The problem is that you can’t have Apple as a main service because they don’t have enough content. Apple TV+ in its current state is supplementary. But if they’d expand their library and keep the price low due to all the money they make on hardware, they could really give these other services some trouble.
You are correct. It's a shame because Apple has good original content. Apple could have bought Paramount for a song and dance -- the studio, CBS, and a back library second to none -- and it passed.

Streaming was a decent alternative for a while and now has become ridiculous.

There is nowhere near enough decent new content on peacock to justify that high a sticker price

As an Australian (where Peacock is not available), what well-known content is on Peacock? It's likely that the same content is on another service here.

Most of it ends up on Stan, but some goes to Netflix/Amazon/Binge. Anything they don't want to pick up ends up at 7plus.

The only really entertaining Peacock show is Those About to Die, which is on Amazon Prime in Australia.

Who pays for streaming?
If you don't like the cost, then fine, don't subscribe. But what you are doing is simply theft and it is illegal! Although you'll try, there is NO way you can justify theft. Give me as many thumbs down as you like, but it is theft, plain and simple.

Don't start crying when someone steals your car or any other bit of your property because they can't afford to buy one. What is really disturbing is how many respondents gave a thumbs up in support of your thievery.

Dunno. As a DirecTV customer that has become an "outcast" from the streaming savvy and cord cutters, it seem like things are coming around full circle for costs (for those that pay). All of these cord cutter streamers are hiking prices.

While I'm sure this is a less popular point of view, Streaming services are still a pretty good deal, compared to cable TV or any other legal way of getting TV shows/ movies.

Before streaming, people complained all the time about having to pay for all of the cable TV channels they don't watch, and they only watch one or two channels. Taking Peacock as an example (because that's the one I'm most familiar with), it's still under $10/month if you buy the annual plan. The best Spectrum package in my area (which is streaming on the app only) is $40/month, and their lowest priced cable plan is $100/month.

For those who truly watch only a couple of channels, 1 or 2 streaming services/month are still a pretty good deal.

Agreed.

The good thing about streaming is... you can start and stop different services any time during the year. People will subscribe to Netflix for the newest season of Stranger Things... then swap Netflix for some other service. $20/month here and there isn't so bad.

The bad thing about cable was... you were paying ~$70/month.... every month. WITH ADS. 200 channels and there was still nothing to watch.

🤣

The only streaming I have all year round now is Apple TV+ as it is part of my Apple subscription. But the content is great. Ditched Amazon once they put ads in and it made things absolute rubbish to watch. And other streamers I just use gift cards as needed if there is something to watch. It is amazing if you add up all the subscriptions you have and could be paying for if you just don’t pay attention.

I remember back in day when cable/satellite was getting expensive (heck maybe it always was). Then, streaming was becoming attractive for a few bucks a month. But, like cable/satellite, we are back to square one were you are paying for lots of content you don't need.

If you add up all the different services you need to access content, it somewhat worse than it was before the cable/satellite days. Nuts.
Cut the cord, they said. You'll save money, they said.

People aren't paying because inflation and groceries are through the roof and people are losing jobs left and right. People don't have money right now - especially for constant price hikes.
