I assume this is for a third party To-Do app? Because otherwise, most people can just use Siri to create a new Note or Reminder. For me, this is nearly always by way of my AirPods if they're in, or my Watch. I absolutely do not understand the point of a $100 ring to do this.

Incredibly stupid. I can't believe anyone thought this was a good idea. I'm sure he wasn't the only one, which is sad. Just to throw it away when the battery dies, what a joke.

The value here seems to be that you can take notes as long as your thumb and index finger are free, even if you are doing something with your hands (e.g. driving). Moving thoughts into your inbox with little friction is a good thing (remember when GTD was a big thing in the OS X world?); it's a focused niche device, why not.
We can do this as well with our apple watches (among its others features) that are not single use device and cost not that much more.

yes, Things. Leaving the options blank in the shortcut sends the to-do to your Things Inbox for, in GTD talk, clarifying later.

No subscription but you have to buy a new one every 2 years when the battery runs out.
I kind of get it, making it so simple to record a note that it becomes instinct. He seems to have invented it for himself.
I've never worn rings so I'm not sure I would ever use a smart ring. I have watches

What recycling company will bother to disassemble this tiny product to separate its components?
Like in most cases, "recycle" is just a euphemism for throwing away. It’s a word to make consumers feel less guilty about consuming.

Just like this one, too:
no charging is necessary
The correct wording is: No charging is possible.

I’m somewhat disappointed that MacRumors just adopted that marketing double speech instead of saying things how they are.

$75 (for now) for just this feature makes it very costly. Only good thing is that there is no subscription.

A non-rechargeable ring is not how I envisioned 2025 would be. Make better products!

Let me know when they release a disposable camera ring..

At first glance it seemed like a piss take, a product of extreme groupthink, but upon further reading on their website, it seems a bit better. Though I'm not fully convinced.

I won’t lie, I actually thought this sounded like a bit of a nifty gadget right up until I read that the battery lasts for 12-15 hours of use and is non-rechargeable and non-replaceable. That’s absolutely ridiculous.
Because it's for short thoughts and ideas that you don't want to let evaporate, not for things where you'll need long recordings (like for example an interview) when you can just pull your phone out. So they say it lasts for years for the average user.

Still curious about that "recycling process", do you get a discounted new unit? And what about privacy concerns?

In the photo it looks like a zip tie. --no thanks, I'm good.

Thanks, :D now there is coffee on my screen. It could be worse, it could have 3D printer lines on it too.

(to nobody in particular)

I do see the worth, in a way, for someone to say thoughts as they pop into one's head in order to have them remembered with the minimal amount of effort. 100% brainfree. But I also see a world where this sort of "accepted social behaviour" where it's ok and normal and even expected to "talk into mid air as you control a ring or always on AI sunglasses" is an unusual possible future for me to try and hold. I know, this is a 'me' problem. But I do think the babble of a million people uttering nothing into the air - to nobody; that, can only be thought of as noisy stress.

I guess I am getting old. Cellphones on public transport also annoy me, especially the one who put the call on loudspeaker, then talk into the microphone end with the phone held flat, hamburger like.

My sincere apologies, I will go back at waving my walking stick at the clouds.
