One may look at the results of these larger iPhones and wonder what may have been if they did this several years earlier. Water under the bridge at this point, but clearly consumers have spoken.

Still can't believe that I can't just walk into a Verizon store today and buy a regular iPhone 6!

Consumer demand for this product has really been off the chart. (Must be seriously hurting Android phone sales? Can't wait to see Mobile carrier's Q3 and Q4 2014 sales figures.)

Happy to hear that Pegatron is stepping up to better meet Apple's iPhone 6 holiday season demad.

We walked into a Verizon store here a couple days ago and they were still quoting us a month until they would have any in stock. I had already checked and all but one of the local Apple Stores here (San Diego) had the model we wanted in stock.... so we went there. I had wanted to give them the sale... but it seems Apple sends a high proportion of arriving models to their own stores first.

I think many at Apple would have liked to have gone larger, earlier. But from the interviews that I've read and from other anecdotal evidence at least, all signs point to Steve Jobs being firmly against a size larger than the iP5/5S. (My opionion of course.)

First off they most likely did organize this sometime ago. We wouldn't hear about it until the deals are done. It can be pretty complex to ramp up production as you have stuff Apple is responsible for, stuff that Pegatron is responsible for and everything related to the suppliers for these two. More interesting is the requirements for capital equipment, some of which would have longer lead times.

The other thing here is separating out sustainable demand from the market Rush that comes with each new iPhine release. Before millions are invested in production lines you want to know that those lines will actually be used three months after a product release.

Agree...also Apple has to manage Wall street - you cannot have 60 million (doubtful if it would be possible) on Q1 and then 10m on the next quarter.

While it sucks if you don't have the new phone yet, its better for the suppliers, assemblers and Apple to orderly produce these phones.

Ordered my 6+ 128GB SG on 9/19 in the morning through ATT and still haven't got it. Got a 11/9-11/27 delivery date and still nothing. Two month wait is a joke.

Being completely out of stock is never a good thing for a manufacture. Hopefully this ramp up will relieve some of the pressure on inventory.

The Best Best very close to my place received a lot of 6 or replenishing their shelves when I was returning my unopened Sharp Aquous in their Mobile department. I was surprised with the large quantities they got. The lack of 6+ might still be an ongoing situation.

At the same time, in the other desk, there was a dude returning his less than 2 weeks old Galaxy S5.

The iPhones sales at Best Buy must be having a banner year or selling like hot cakes.

Fantastic! Now they can produce more of these!

Apple would never make a phone that big.

They will never do those thick plastic lines.

5.5 doesn't exist, there hasn't been any leaks!

WTF, protruding camera? That's not Apple.

Did I forget some?

Is this 5 months ago? At least stay current with your sarcasm.

iPhone 6 is too big. Wah Wah. Going back to my 5.
iOS turned my iPhone into an iPod. Apple doesn't QC.
The iPhone 6+ does or doesn't bend.
SOMETHING SOMETHING GATE.

ironically they are,

Apple needs year-over-year growth and it'll be hard to follow up such strong sales this year.

That is why they save the release of the :apple: Watch for next year then :apple: TV for 2016 then the iCar for 2017!

The Internet people want sarcasm spelled out. /s

The OP was referencing comments made with early leaks. It's a harmless joke. Also, what's with everybody being aggressive in the comments section today?

Really happy for the amazing sales and all, but when I order something, it is under the impression that I will receive it in a timely manner. I hope Apple doesn't screw up like this during the :apple:Watch & iPhone 6S/6S+ product releases.
:)

Don't worry about it, nobody wants / needs an :apple: Watch. /s :D

Added :D for better special effects.

I think people were worried about next year sales growth after success of 5s as well, if I remember correctly...

Apple I think still has a lot of mileage left... They are opening a lot of stores around the world to increase their penetration in many markets and making iPhone easily accessible...

When they sort out wider distribution coupled with launching newer and different products, I feel they won't have problem of growth in foreseeable future. Maybe the growth may not come only from iPhone sales, but definitely other newer product categories as well...

Just my two cents worth...

I feel sorry for the poor souls waiting a month or longer for the 6+ from an online order. I was lucky enough to get one in store. Hopefully Apple will be getting the devices out faster now!

Check the Local Apple Store

Most of my colleagues who ordered thru AT&T here in Dallas were able to walk in the a local Apple store and get one way ahead of the AT&T ship dates. They were then able to cancel their AT&T orders.
