Peloton today introduced an Apple TV app, providing easy access to its full library of live and on-demand workout videos on the big screen. There are thousands of workouts related to cycling, running, walking, strength training, yoga, stretching, and more.

Peloton bikes already feature a built-in touchscreen for accessing workout videos, but the Apple TV app allows the videos to be watched on a larger TV without AirPlay. Some workouts are designed with the Peloton bike or treadmill in mind, but other exercises can be done on the floor with a mat, such as yoga, stretching, and meditation.

Peloton bike owners were notified of the new Apple TV app today, including 9to5Mac's Zac Hall. The app is free to download, but requires a Peloton membership.

This is great. Peloton Digital user here. I wish there was a way to record workout stats via the Peloton Watch app when using Peloton on a different platform. Right now, I launch on iPhone (Watch app launches), AirPlay to Apple TV then set my Apple TV to output AirPlay 2 audio to my nearby Sonos One. Not a fan of clunky workarounds but works. It's still a good solution though. I get heart rate and cadence data (via bluetooth cadence monitor).

This is fantastic. Now I just wish I could use my Apple Watch as my heart rate monitor connected to the bike!

You can, at least on the digital app.

I wonder if this means that instead of dual screening it with my phone and TV, I can get cadence and heart rate displayed on the TV? Currently, all the other stats showing how far you are into the workout, heart rate, cadence, and what not display live on your phone. The phone shows the instructor as a freeze-frame, while the instructor plays full-screen on the TV without any of the metrics. It would be nice if it all was on one screen.

I caught this pop up notification on my Peloton bike this morning when I started my workout. Much easier to use a native AppleTV app then airplay the app from a phone or ipad. I won't use it much but my GF does the stretching and Yoga stuff.

So for those asking how it works. If you own a bike, you have to take out a bike subscription for $39.99 a month which give you access to both pre-recorded workout and scheduled live workouts. This is called a Bike Membership or Tread Membership if you have the Peloton Treadmill. If you have a bike or a treadmill, you have to subscribe to the $39.99 a month plans for it to work.

No Bike or Treadmill - The Digital Membership is $12.99 a month and does not offer any live classes.

Did it cross the authors mind to put in the article how much the membership costs?

Thanks, that should have been in the article for context.

Costs? There are thousand upon thousand of free great workout routines on Youtube.
There are also tens of thousands upon tens of thousands of bad ones. I'm happy for to pay someone to aggregate them for me. I tried the free route. I've thoroughly enjoyed having a Peloton subscription.

Ditto, Peloton nailed it from every perspective - hardware, software , instructors, quality and direction of the classes. You literally feel like you are in a spin class with 50 people. Worth every penny.

You do get live classes with digital membership. You just can't get live stats and ranks displayed on the screen. I have the digital membership and it totally worth the money. I have no plan to purchase the Peloton bike or treadmill. I just play it on the TV and run on my Proform treadmill and do some Yoga.

FINALLY. I've been waiting for this forever. I'm a massive Peloton bike addict. I wanted this app so I could do the floor workouts in front of my TV.
