I'm not trying to manufacture a -gate here, but does the Pencil cap have a hole in it?

British safety standard BS7272-2 requires a hole in the cap for any writing marking instruments likely to be used by children up to the age of 14.

Soft tipped styluses are exempt (I think since the tip could be bitten off) but the Pencil isn't in that category.

The full document costs real cash money, but there's a brief article here... link

Is it a cap as it isn't for covering the tip and doesn't need to be removed for writing?

It just says caps and end enclosures. Its not the function that matters it's the fact kids put pen ends in their mouths, and the cap tends to be on that end.

The fact this law exists in the UK makes me think more and more how stupid health and safety is becoming...
Well...if the rule has been made it means that a few children have died because of this issue...that's all I will say

There is a small ring on the top of the cap that covers the charging end. I had no idea what it was for until I read this.
