And, in an odd twist of fate:

I'm reading a rather boring article as I work on my dissertation. I paused to visit MacRumors and read this thread. I then returned to the article.

In the very next paragraph of the article, there is a reference to a 1987 book by Desforges and Cockburn.

No kidding.

You just caused me to become aware of this behaviour. WTF, it's true!

My friend (who is a girl) recently asked why boys, when alone and sitting down, (like watching TV or a movie) often have their hand down their pants. It wasn't until a week later when I realized that's true too!

Whyyyyy????

I just noticed this after reading this lol. It probably has something to do with masculinity, basically we feel like sissy's if we don't know they are there all the time. Either that or we are just obsessed with playing with them

With all the joking it seems people forget the man died.

Just for a moment consider if the roles were reversed and the man set fire to his wife.
And she died from severe injuries to her genitals.

Imagine the *spitting* self-righteous outrage then…

Exactly!

A person suffered a horrific death, but I suppose it's funny because he had his peens set alight.

I mean, if I made a thread joking about something like this for example I would be 'very wrong'.

Actually, it's not quite fair to compare female circumcision to this. These are innocent young girls who did nothing wrong, while this man did cheat on his wife (not that I'm defending or justifying the actions of his wife). This is the difference between stoning a girl to death for nothing, and stoning a man to death for adultery. They're both wrong, but hardly the same thing. If a woman slept around and got beaten up/ burned by her husband, unfortunately, I bet there would be quite a few people who would say "that w**** deserved it".
