I usually write in all caps like a lot of people here. It's much neater than my lowercase handwriting. Although I do hate it when people type in all caps. Ironic, huh?

Also, in the rare case I write in lower case, I use the computer "a" as a few other people here do. I started just because I like the way it looks.

Here's a question, though, who else besides me draws a "9" like a computer, with the tail at the bottom?

(Speaking of numbers, my 2s don't have loops and my 8s are two independent circles.)

After spending 3 years studying architecture I can't really write cursive anymore - although when I try I manage something quite nice - reminiscent of architectural fonts and a little creativity....

I think my penmanship's okay, though perhaps not as good as it used to be. I had compulsory calligraphy lessons at prep school... we were forced to write with a medium-nibbed italic pen and only allowed to write in black ink. My writing now is far less italicised and more "squiggly" (there must be a technical term for this!) I don't write very much at all these days. When i'm taking quick notes in a meeting at work with a notepad on my lap, my writing is virtually indecipherable, but most other times it's pretty neat. I always write in proper case with correct punctuation (as opposed to my fairly lazy typing habit of [usually] typing all in lower case and omitting apostrophes, etc). I would NEVER write all in capitals or strange mixed case.

Hey, all my r's look liks v's  What's wrong with that? Also my upper case C's look like L's. And my 5's look like s's, and my s's look like um... no other letter. Oh, and my n's look like u's. I'm really bad.

Edit: In case anyone is wondering how a n can look like a u, see the attached image I did in photoshop of what my n and u look like.

I have this issues with v's looking like u's and vice-versa. This is a bit of a problem with Latin. And I wrote a girl who was in out discussion group's name on our overhead slide as 'Rebecca'. Several people wanted to know who 'Rebella' was.

I attached some various JPEGS of my notes, since I'm off tomorrow and am proctastinating doing homework. I go to an engineering school, so my handwriting and that of most of my peers is pretty crappy.

First is from US I, had to write really quickly. English notes are more relaxed, and for whatever reason, neater. The Lab notebook looks rather scientific, I guess. Ph34r t3h phy$ukz.

my writing is horrendous, worse than any doctor in the hospital i work at. The middle school i went to had to give me a laptop (NEWTON!!!) to do tests on and take notes because all my teachers were complaining about my handwriting.

But some drs believe i have some small motor issue going on in my hand that causes it
That is exactly what they did to me! I've been using a laptop for my classes since 8th grade, now in 10th grade. Never thought I'd find someone like that too. ;) I use my PowerBook though. Anyways, what sucks is that everyone else in my family has perfect writing, My mom has beautiful cursive writing, and my dad writes perfectly straight blocky, all caps.

Makes me wonder what they did before computers....it almost seems as though you've taken the easy way out. So no amount of practicing will help?

Well you know what they say about a doctor's writing.

So...is "writing' different that "printing"? I always thought printing was a sub section of writing. Like...under writing you had script (cursive) and print. I dunno...maybe it's a southern thing...

There are actually differences in writing styles among medical doctors. My father-in-law has typical MD handwriting. Part of being a nurse is being able to read their writing. Quite a critical need in my profession. You just learn to read them. I have seem some that have very nice handwriting. The majority were female though.

I don't really have much of a handwriting style either. Printing worked very well for nurse's notes. All capital also. Though many hospitals use computers for progress notes and doctor's orders. Makes for better patient care and safety.
