I'm sorry but after seein that pic I am 100% sure that the case needs a re-design... it's boring! Yeh it looks good but that was 5 years ago!!!! Cars have quicker updates than these laptops. You don't see people going on about cars and saying 'if it isn't broke don't fix it' or 'it's beautiful the way it is'. Yeh it is nice... but there's always room for improvement!

finally a leopard box. I hated that tiger box :p

Even though I didn't ever owned a mac. I seen videos of them on youtube and they werent that special. Sucks about the Apple remote though!

any news from you new owners on the screen quality? see any yellowing? or a yellow tint?

I'm curious how the screen on the 15" compares to the previous one, I thought the LED screen on the SR MBP was far less striking than the MBA screen and was hoping Apple would use the same-series screen in this refresh.

From what I can tell, on my Penryn MBP, no yellowing or yellow tint.

What are easy tests for that? I just made the background white and took a long good stare at the screen in different areas.

But I have to lower the brightness, at full brightness the screen is just too bright.

Sure, the Porsche 911 has remained pretty much the same for years. But yeah I agree it about time for a change.

The NYC stores are supposed to get them today. I called yesterday and the snooty guy said he didn't know, but expected them tomorrow.

Thanks, I'm really looking forward to buying one of these guys. Which store did you call?. I called 5th ave and Soho and they had no idea (yesterday morning) when they were going to arrive.

I wonder why the new MBPs don't have the oversized trackpad like the MacBook Airs do...
I'm sorta glad that they don't. I finally saw a MacBook Air "in person" yesterday and I really dislike how thin the trackpad button is now. It seems like it would more difficult to use than the current trackpad button size for the MacBook/MacBook Pro.

There was some speculation as to whether the LED on the new MBP would be the same quality as the Air. I guess the Air has better specs? Just curious as to whether or not anyone has done the comparison.

[EDIT] Whoops. I see that Zorn asked the same question...

The MBP trackpad is the same size as the MBA's. It just looks bigger on the MBA because the foot print is smaller. So Apple's R&D (or just SJ's thoughts) must have determined that the MBP's trackpad was big enough for multi-touch and then just put that on the MBA.

But the button on the MacBook Pro's trackpad is just as "tall" as it was before, right? That was the main thing I disliked about the Air's trackpad---the button at the bottom of the trackpad was too "short".

I called the 5th avenue store, but I asked about the other stores too. The guy said that the other stores usually don't get anything before the 5th avenue store. As I mentioned, they said that they are expecting them today..hope so.
