nzoMD, if you happen to get bored with the AoC beta or anything, send me a PM. ;):D

There is a windows registry hack to fix the clock issue when switching between bootcamp and OSX. It can be found through google.

I too am a student and a first time mac owner, i havent encountered ANY of the problems you've adressed:confused: but i didnt even want to try iWork, im running Office 08 and it hasnt failed me so far

but as this is my first mac i have noooo clue what i SHOULD expect

It sounds to me like the original poster is using Office for some pretty high-level stuff (math, specifically) that Microsoft hasn't ported between their Windows and Mac products. Not really Apple's fault, but this definitely isn't the sort of work that the majority of college students are doing.

Icon tip has already been hit, not sure about the WiFi, and I'd agree that Parallels' coherency mode would be a much better solution for using Office (Boot Camp only for games).

I think we'll hafta settle this with a.....THUMB WAR!

nzoMD, let me know if Assassins blow the big one. ~_^

Thanks for the input on those who helped (icons etc). As you read the review you must understand that this is coming from a first time mac user, so there will be things that I do not know how to do right away.

Problem that I am having with the Wifi is that I get frequent disconnects even when I have a strong signal to the router.

Icon editing is fine now. Any great links to icon websites are appreciated :D

As far as office, 2008 and 2007 do not have the same capabilities if you are doing some pretty "sophisticated" math/science stuff such as novas, polar, and X-Y graphs. Again, I am new to Mac so I may have yet to figure out how to fully take advantage of 2008, but with deadlines on school stuff, I just don't have the time to figure out if its possible in 2008 since its more direct in 2007.

Age of Conan I can't really comment much on. The beta account belongs to my roommate so thats how I manage to install and try the game. Since hes is constantly stuck on the game, I rarely get a chance to play. From my limited experience playing, I can tell you that it looks amazing and the classes I got to play were pretty in-depth. The combat system is extremely buggy and difficult to pick up right away... its way too many buttons to control for its own good, but I hear they are working on it.

I ordered iWork 08 with my MBP (shipping) does it really suck THAT much? :(
it looks cool on apple's site:confused:

Yes.

There is nothing better then windows office 2007 for anything college related it is a complete package. Too bad office 08 lack so much.

And iwork is like for 9th graders...

No VBA really made me skeptical about buying Office 2008.

I believe Office for Mac 2004 has VBA support. You can still find this older app for sale. And really, IMHO, Office '04 is just as good as Office '08.

i got like 150+ fps playing dota in leopard.
it'll go down to like a 100 as the game continues, and the GPU gets heated up.

Just to kick the ball in the other direction, I'm here to say that my SR macbook pro (listed in signature) works with wifi extremely well. We have a linksys N router and I never lose connectivity, inside or outside the house. I always have 4 bars of connectivity in my menubar, and the only problems I ever have with it are with the router, not my Mac.
