Meh.

If people want to be idiots and become voluntarily homeless for a week or more instead of simply ordering online, by all means...

You may not be able to preorder iPhone X online so those people are actually guaranteed to get iPhone X. ;)

I think most of us will be camping outside our local Apple Stores once we know the date/time of the retail launch.

We will? Maybe if I was 20 years younger, didn't have a job to go to (but independently wealthy as to afford an expensive phone) and didn't have an internet connection so that I could order from the comfort of my home.

Lining up for hours/days to buy a phone is literally one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

I doubt that the X will even be available in stores on release day. If the supply is constrained as they are making it out to be..... Fools to be lining up what amounts to almost 2 weeks prior to release!

Mind boggling but not shocking. And I won't be shocked if at least ONE person starts lining up at big Apple stores outside NYC, SF stores, other places.

Just pack a suitcase for the change of seasons - umbrella, gear for the nasty NorEaster storms that hit the East coast starting in Oct usually. 80º tomorrow around here, by the time it comes out Nov. 3, they might need to be bundled up in winter jackets for sleeping at night.

And yes...how the heck do these people - obviously without jobs - afford a $1K phone? (Not including tax, Apple Care)

I bet those who are in line were expecting to get the iPhone X, only to find that the pre-orders for those don't start till end of October.

It's going to be a while, but I can see some people doing it. That was the only disappointment of the presentation today -- the release date of X is too far away. With everything else they blew expectations out of the water though.
