I tried researching about this and got no response. My problem is that whenever I am on a call and my finger slides over the headphone jack the person on the other end can not hear me at all! The phone also then makes a sound, the best way I can describe that sound is when you cover or tap a microphone, that sound. This is frustruating and was wondering if it happens to others. I tested it just now with my wife on the other end and she could not hear me at all when the headphone jack was covered by my finger. Any suggestions?

The microphone is right next to the headphone jack. You are probably covering up the mic as well. Trying gripping the phone by the sides rather than the bottom.

oh great! So now I am "holding it wrong"?

Well, I didn't want to use that phrase , but yes lol. :D

I added a pic to my original post showing a diagram

thanks for the quick reply. I can't imagine that the mic is that sensitive that I can't be heard at all by covering it slightly with my finger...?

I don't know, but it's worth a shot. It seems like the most likely issue based on your description.

I'm experiencing this same issue as well. As strange as it is for a cell phone I rarely actually use it as a phone, lol. Mostly texting... So it really isn't a huge thing with me. If my phone is defective in some way though I guess I should get it fixed.

Covering the microphone can cause this problem, like with any other phone.
Also check the mute button.

If it still doesn't work, make an appointment at the genius bar.

You can also have an issue when covering up any of the noise cancelling mics.

There's certainly that too. And the noise cancellation setting might be affecting things as well in some cases.
