Is it possible to just leave my background the way I want it to be in messages?

I have all these people who don't even read my phone messages who are changing the background ON MY PHONE and I can't change it back without it changing on their end too.

I don't want a fancy background, just plain black is what want.
Is there a way to turn it off that people can do this ON MY phone?

Open app settings menu for messages app

Also what happens if you click None under convo backgrounds menu ?

I was very surprised that you can't turn it off for individual group chats.
I suspect that this big “none” option would do it but are you asking if you can turn it off and prevent it from happening again? (per thread)

Doing that is going to turn it off for *everyone* in the chat. And if you turn off background in Settings that it going to affect every group chat you're in. I meant I was surprised you can't opt out of a background in one chat.

This really should be something each person just does on their own phone.
What a weird idea.
I don't understand that either...I love how Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc. fail to give flexibility with customizations that get thrust upon others like they are so sure everyone wants it. For a company that prides itself on making things elegant, they sure shove a lot down our throat.

I suspect there will be a fair amount of backlash with it and it will be addressed in a minor update. Probably they were like just get it in and working for the 26 launch and we'll tweak it in updates.
