or do you just have a small penis?

So does this mean if your signature is small then you have a large penis?

And what about women? If they list the machine they're using, that means they have a penis?

I'm confused, and slightly alarmed.

Imagine if your sig was your epitaph.

Like this lovely epitaph?

Though I'm always down for some good Tennyson

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

why? is being materialistic the newest and latest craze with the mass population? is it hip and cool? or do you just have a small penis?

i mean, really, why?

***edit***

i'm referring to the people who boast about their xbox's, cars, and whatever else they might feel will get them attention.

sorry, just ranting. no offense to any of the die-hard mac users. i am one myself

It actuall has a use. Lets say you were having a lot of trouble with your mac instead of telling everyone what kind and the specs over and over and over again, they can just refer to your signature.

It's a Mac Forum. Get over it.

There are precious few of those. Some might make more oblique references of course.

There's also a specific place in your profile for this, though... But I do see your point, totally... two of the things that irk me the most on MR are when (newbies) ask a question and...

1) It's specifically related to the computer / equipment they have, and they don't bother to list any details. OMG, I have a MAC!!!!111111 Why doesn't my printer work? Could you be any less specific?

2) It's something that varies from country to country and they put something snarky in their location field rather than actually saying what country they're from (it seems like the people on MR who assume you're from their country or that the world revolves around them are fairly split between British and Americans, though. ;) :D When we all know the world revolves around Americans. ;) )

That's the old way of thinking. The USA is so last season :p

It seems the OP is a bit upset about people listing their computers in their sigs. The fact is, people may be proud of what they have and how they got it. It's no big deal and it shouldn't put such a dent in your day to know someone has more than you. I think the OP is jealous over something but I'd say talking **** the way he/she does isn't going to be the quickest way to make friends--which he/she clearly lacks.

Just a reminder for those who are bothered by sigs. There are options available.

LOL. As the previous poster said, a lot of people who ask technical question a lot leave their hardware in the sig so they don't have type what mac they have all the time.

I agree that seeing a list of "stuff" isn't that interesting.

However, since we limit the sizes of signatures, and don't allow huge text, blinking text, or the other most-distracting stuff, I'm not sure why anyone minds that some signatures have more interesting content than others.

In most forum systems, signatures are like part of your profile. If it's a car forum, you tell about your car. If it's a computer forum, you tell about your electronics. Sometimes it even comes in handy, when you are asking a Mac question and the model you own is in your sig.

When I have to trim somebody's oversized signature that has a list of equipment, I PM them to suggest that they move some of that information into their profile.
