I haven't been a fan of digital watches since I was in the 8th grade a couple decades ago. But the above doesn't make any sense to me. A digital watch shows "8:57". There is no calculating involved. OTOH an analog shows a big hand near the 8 and the little hand two clicks north of the :55 notch. A human has to calculate that.

I guess I think differently.

I don't 'CARE' that it's 8:57. That means nothing to me. I only 'CARE' that 8:57 is close to 9:00, which means I've got about 2 hours until bedtime.

So, looking at an analog watch, I see the time sorta near 9:00, and if it's 8:57 or 9:03, it's the 'same' to me. I just want to know relatively how much time I have left in the day. I don't calculate to know the 'exact' time. No reason to.

If I have a TV show starting at 9:00 - so what - I've got a DVR, now I know that I can start watching it when I'm sometime after 9:00.

I'm all for DIGITAL watches when you're timing something like a football game. Where it MATTERS if there is 0:03 of 0:06 left. I guess, international soccer has the other feeling where analog is okay for them because 0:03 left and 0:06 left doesn't matter, they might play for another 5 minutes anyways! :)

No you completely missed my point. The quote clip which I referred to you essentially wrote digital watches required the user to calculate the time and analogs did not. Of course the opposite is true.

It seems that you're open to conversation on this topic. I slammed your watch, while you didn't slam mine. :)

I'm honestly wondering, why people wear watches like you do. I wear my watch just so I can tell time. And I like something very obvious, where I can look at it for 1/10th of a second and I know the time. And I don't like a watch to say something like '7:57' - it means nothing to me.... 7:57 is really 8:00, and an analog watch shows that to me easier instead of me taking a second to calculating it. I guess like a fuel gauge in a car, I don't want a digital readout of how much gas I have, I want an analog readout to see how close to 'E'mpty I am.

Anyways, I've never felt the need for fashion in a watch, just utilitarian use - seeing the current time. In your life, is the main purpose for the watch to be jewelry? The bigger, the blingier, the ??something?? makes it good for your style? I guess coming from a different view, I don't understand your view...

(Nor do I understand Apple's view of charging so much for their watches!!)

I seldom wear a watch at all. The watch in my image is solid 18K gold and is so heavy that it actually irritates the tendon going to my thumb.

I prefer analog too but do digital now because my LX and iPhone 6+ tells me the time that way.

I did not buy this watch, it was given to me by a good customer. When I deal with this customer, you can bet I am wearing the watch he gave me.

The "bling" of this Rolex Yachtmaster is no different than the people, here, buying the Apple watch. It is just on a different level as you could buy over three of Apple's Gold watches for the price of a Yachtmaster. The gold Yachtmaster is really cheap compared to the solid platinum unit.

We each have different "views" in life, that is what makes it all interesting. Like I said, I seldom wear a watch at all and only have interest in the Apple watch but have no desire to buy one.

Apple charges alot for these watches because they can. The same for all their products and I got to believe they know what they are doing as my investment in their stock has over doubled and still going up.

My cay says HEY to your beagle!

Have a great weekend:)

He didn't bought them for "time" purpose.

He didn't bought them at all, it was a gift from a customer.

Seldom worn, a little too much bling for me as seldom wear a watch.

Yep. Analog clocks are great for immediately visualizing relative times, while digital clocks are only good for seeing the "right now" time.

If a person has an appointment at 9:20, they can glance at an analog watch, and actually "see" how much time they have left.

With digital, they have to mentally calculate, or translate to analog and visualize it.

There's a place for both methods, so it helps if you have both available and are familiar with both.

What amazes me is how many people I know (virtually all younger than 40 or so, when digital clocks started appearing) who cannot read an analog clock at all. To me, that's like not being able to multiply numbers without a calculator.

In any case, for field apps we have to take the above limitation into account, and either avoid analog clock representations, or show both.

On the other hand (groan...) some lifestyles require precision timing. I work in a broker office where calls are done on the minute, and trades placed on the second.

Not removing this for any other watch, not even one from Apple!

That is a beautiful watch. I would love to have one. Seeing an awesome watch like that reminds me of a friend who is cocky and way overweight. He told me many times he spent over 100k on watches so he won't get an Apple Watch. The last time I saw him he had gained at least 30 more pounds. Oh well.

To all the people wearing ONLY one watch: and what about symmetry???

Side note: this was a joke.

What a nice story:p

I might be cocky but not overweight.

People who have the money to buy a $25k Watch are not you meek type. I am no sheep!
