I am curious to know what plans people have for release day?

Do you have a ritual as such? Do you get up at a certain time and make the same trip to a store?

I always enjoy reading through the threads where people document being in line camping overnight etc, it's a method that one day I'd love to do but doubt I ever will. Being in the uk there isn't the same Apple Store hype with people camping out! Certainly not where I live at my Apple Store.

So please tell us your plans and your Apple experience that you have each time.

As always I’ll be buying via the app, Meadowhall queues are crazy and start about 6pm the night before, where’s your Apple store? If there’s no queue, get in it!

lol I'll be shipping this year and maybe next! Happy with my red 7!

Cambridge is my local but it is sat in a large enclosed shopping centre so their opening times are dictated by the centre. No camping out I would imagine at the Cambridge store!

Sounds same as Meadowhall but people queue outside and apple let them in early morning, usually to free coffee and croissants.

I will probably get up and be sat in front of my iMac and my iPad Pro before 8am ready for the store to go live at 8am (here in the U.K.) the app will probably go live first, I will then order an iPhone 8 128GB (or if it's 256GB or 512GB only I will go 256GB) and any accessories such as wireless charging and a case (maybe depending what's announced). That's my plan anyway it could change depending on what Apple announce! The 8 is going to be a BIG upgrade I think.

2 Option for me and non of it easy

1- Wait inline at 4AM Apple Store
2- Wakeup at 2:50 AM

Dam ..... too lazzy:rolleyes:

Preordering through my carrier. It's local for me and quick. I'm not overly concerned about receiving my new iPhone on launch day, but more so placing my preorder in quickly as possible due to shipping dates slipping rapidly.

Ever since I found out that the Apple Store app seems to go live before the website, my preordering process has been quick and painless.

As I said in another thread, last year I was able to preconfigure my iPhone 7 in the app and save it to favorites. Then I preordered it within ~30 seconds of the preorders going live. I woke up at 2:55AM and was back in bed at 3:02.

If I miss the first group window for ordering then I will queue up outside the retail store in Bath. I quite enjoy it and yep the Apple guys organise free coffee and croissants at 7 in the morning.

1. Use Apple Store app to order online at midnight.

2. Close to release date, use Apple's "Reserve and Pick Up" to get second phone.

3. Enjoy new iPhones.

I've never waited in line. I made close to $1,000 during the iPhone 6 Plus craze because several people waited in line overnight. When the store opened, they were too far down the line to get their phone. I sold several of my Reservations to them for $150-$200 each.

I've forgotten how it works exactly. If I want the Next discount from ATT can I still use the phone app? Or, how should I do this.....:D

So reserve and pickup is only close release date not in preorder day ????

I will be at my computer feverishly refreshing until the magical moment... when the refurbished iPhone 7 appears. No chance I'm paying $1K for basically last year's android phones with fancy face recognition or full price for iPhone 6s-s-s. The only upgrade I want is an OLED display, but Apple is frankly insulting us with the price. I'll gladly pay 450 for a refurbished 7 and wait for prices to be sane for a future OLED iPhone.

Honestly if the refurbished 7 comes in over $450 (price of entry level 6s right now) or the Apple Watch Series 3 is LTE only, I'll probably just pull my Pixel out of the drawer it's in. It's objectively better hardware than my iPhone SE, but I missed my Watch when I had it.

How is the 8 last year's android phone? The bezel-less craze happened in 2017.

It's just a 5.8" OLED display. There's nothing innovative about that, or frankly about shrinking the bezels. Samsungs have had similar displays for years now. The S6 edge plus was 5.7 and actually curved.

I prefer iOS and Apple customer service, and I want to stick with iPhone, but we cannot pretend that this phone is this groundbreaking development. It's Apple finally catching up to its competitors in terms of hardware. But they want us to pay like it's as innovative as the first iPhone was. And if that trend continues, I'll probably tap out.
