Apple has signed a deal for "The Jet," a docuseries that tells the true story of the 1990s Pepsi campaign that advertised a Harrier jet in exchange for Pepsi points, reports Deadline.

"The Jet" was created by James Lee Hernandez and Brian Lazarte, a duo who also created the "McMillion$" documentary for HBO that told the story of the McDonald's Monopoly promotion scam.

The docuseries will tell the story behind Pepsi's "Drink Pepsi, Get Stuff" campaign that saw Pepsi depicting a fighter jet in one of its commercials, offering it up for seven million Pepsi points. Someone gathered those points, leading to a lawsuit where Pepsi claimed that the jet offer was meant to be a joke.

The show is described as a nostalgic deep dive into 1990s pop culture and the events that transpired when someone took the Pepsi commercial too literally.

YES!! This is awesome!! I love this. Great story. And there's more to talk about here than McMillions. I enjoy the lighthearted documentaries. This feels like it will be like American Vandal or "For Heaven's Sake." Too many edgy crime documentaries out there (see Netflix's Night Stalker, Cecil Hotel, etc)

Also, is this other article referring to this documentary, or is there yet another documentary from this group coming to TV+? Because, I wouldn't classify the Pepsi Jet story as a "government scam" - more like "fluff" false advertisement (see law school case).

The monopoly promotion wasn’t a scam. Someone on the inside stole all the winning game pieces and ferreted them to the highest bidder. McDonald’s wasn’t aware of the theft until well after. Full disclosure: I don’t eat at McDonald’s.

With all due respect, it seems like people are making a documentary about anything now. Is it really worth watching a documentary on a pepsi advertisment?

Documentary used to mean something educational, not talking about something that happened or still happening. Like WWI documentary. Now we have people raising cats in Sweden documentaries.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE...

It says they have "ordered" this show, which means they have not started filming it yet? Which means it will be quite some time before we see it?

What happen to the art of telling a story in 2 1/2 hrs? Now everything has to be told in 3 seasons and 30 episodes. It’s starting to get old.
