$850 + taxes = over $1000 ???? That would equate to a tax rate of 18% or more. Your math is a little off there. Tax rates in Missouri range from roughly 8 to 10%.

A SIM free/non-contract iPhone 5 64GB in the UK is £700 which equates to roughly $1,129.

I got a perfect black 16gb phone. I agree with the OP. Apple is a great company that makes great products. People love to criticize the top dog. When Samsung and HTC put out their flagship phone and it has some initial problems/bugs that need to be worked out, the media isn't going to put out a single story. But if the new iPhone even gets a scuff on it - watch out! The media is going to have a hay day. Obviously the media tries to put out articles that people will find sensational, which is what drives this kind of bias. So all the negativity needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It will still be the best selling phone, and I guarantee that it will continue to have the highest satisfaction ratings of any smartphone.

I love my iPhone 5. No scratches, great battery life, love the new earpods, I have used maps 3 times and it worked every time for me...

Way to go Apple.

I really like my iPhone 5. Is it perfect? no, but neither is anything else I buy, yet I manage to carry on. One thing I can say about Apple is at least they try to address legitimate issues that arise by pushing free updates. I'm confident that with each update (as in the past), issues will be resolved.

A lot of these "ranting" posts are funny to me because most of the people complaining the loudest will probably be the first ones in line to buy the next new iPhone when it comes out.

I mean, damn, with 5 million+ sales, they must be doing something right, right?

I'm happy. The phone had no cosmetic flawas and the LTE speed is much faster than I expected.

I ordered two phones online from AT&T. The first was received within the window they gave me when I placed the order, so no complaints there. The second phone is still on back order, but again, still within the window.

I hate when people say stupid things like this. Its not our job to do this, and we dont collect ridiculous amounts of money to do this.
