Anyone?

I bought an Air. Great machine, smooth, fast, etc. But it was still just too large. I use the ipad for everything including general aviation pilot use and I like to have one-pad-to-rule-them-all.

Which is were the Mini has shone. I still have my pre-order first gen Mini, working great.

But the speed of the Air was impressive.

Just last night I got to play with an rMini in the Apple store but it didn't seem as fast as the Air. I was messing with opening up Pages files and it seemed more like my 1genMini. It had the gray back so it was an rMini. The display too seemed a lot like the 1gMini, which is no slouch ...

I thought perhaps I would order for in-store pickup later this week and play with it longer.

But thought perhaps someone may already have gone down this road.

Peak performance is pretty much the same, with edge going to the iPad air. Sustained performance goes to the iPad Air, so if you are doing something heavy for a long period of time and the device heats up, the Mini's will slow and throttle long before Air starts to.
