Performance Comparison: M3 Max MacBook Pro vs. M1 Max MacBook Pro

Agree on the first part.
On the second part about MKBHD not upgrading, he has a team of professionals doing work for him and his equipment includes high end gear for recording and editing (Red, Canon, Mac Pro etc). I doubt he ever does his own editing, rendering and uploading (may be once in a while). So for him to say he is not upgrading his personal laptop, makes perfect sense. If you are a small time YouTuber or photo editor and a one man army that can afford only ONE machine to do everything that makes your living, and if it makes sense for you to upgrade , then why not. Just me thinking !!

Macbook 16" m1 Pro 1Tb SSD
I have about ~6850 write speed and ~5100-5300 read speed according to Blackmagic test
And about ~6800 read and 5700-6200 write on Amorpous Disk Mark (mac analogue of Crystal Disk Mark)
Seems like m3 ssds will be slower. The only reason I can imagine - it was made for first m1 laptops which dont have a lot of RAM on minimal configuration and ssd was used to compensate it, so it should have been as fast as possible

I moved from a 14" MBP M1Max 64 GB RAM, 2 TB Storage to a 14" MBP M3Max (16 core CPU 40 Core GPU), 64 GB RAM (considered 128) and 2 TB Storage. Space Black color of course.
Running Geekbench scores I'm seeing a 20-30% improvement on average across metrics. There are a few outliers that seem to show a bigger difference such as ray tracing, but otherwise, my bare minimum to change. This is my first day with the machine so I'll give it a chance to see if it provides that IT factor the wow to make me keep it.
I have a small business, and my computers are basically my main business expense, or one of them. I can trade-in easily the 2021 M1Max MBP for a significant reduction on price of the new machine. If I change every three years or so, it comes out to about $1000 a year to use the latest spec in the size I want, which isn't too unreasonable. This is before considering it as a deductible business expense, which defrays the cost potentially slightly.

For me it’s a huge speed increase for my photo activity. Now going thru my yearly old Aperture libraries that were converted to photo libraries.
Using a duplicate finder app .. truly nice.
I’m sure my MBP M3 Max will enable workflow gains in all my endeavors.
