I currently have a mid 2011 2.3ghz mac mini as my main computer but would to replace it for a rMBP for portability and home use and to link up to an external monitor.

Thinking of getting the new 2.6ghz rMBP. How would this compare to the 2011 mini in terms of performance ?

It will be considerably faster if your Mac Mini doesn't have an SSD. All rMBPs have PCIe SSDs as standard.

It's a fair bit faster too in other areas: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/compare/1276573?baseline=667037
