So are you saying you feel threatened by these sites that "look exactly like 5,000 other iWeb sites out there"? If your designs are original what do you have to worry about?

Ugg I think I need to clarify something here, I'm not threatend by iWeb sites, I'm ANNOYED with iWeb threads showcasing the same template I've seen 6 dozen times before.

The only thing I can think of that perhaps people should post the site in the section they want the interest and focus to be on. For example, I posted my recent site in the "Design and Graphics" section, as although I wanted comments on the site as well as the work, it was the look and design of the site I wanted comments on. I'm sure a 'proper' web designer could have picked holes in my HTML and CSS.

Likewise, if I was a photographer, I would post my site in the "Photography" section to get comments on my photos. If it was a family iWeb site, I would say it should perhaps be in the Community section or Picture Gallery if you want people to comment on your family holiday photos, or stories about your family.

Having said that, if someone wants comments on their iWeb site (not the content), I don't see why it shouldn't be here. If I had used iWeb to make an innovative site I would be a bit annoyed it had to go in the iWeb section, especially when there will be plenty of unoriginal CSS template sites in the "grown-up  " section. hence my comments about judging the site, not the program used.

Hmm ok then, perhaps we should have a template "designed" section :p

as I said before I just see this is becoming a flood of templated iWeb sites that completly change the dynamics of the forum.

I still can't say I agree, but this would be an far less condescending and elitist way to divide them if they were put into sub-forums.

#2, It doesn't stop it, but it certainly discourages it. Think of it as your favourite bar, if suddenly it were filled with 18 year girls taking extacy and jockish guys picking them up, would you feel as welcome?

So iWeb users are to web designers what "extacy-taking 18 year old girls and jocks" are to normal people?

Apparently, if you use apps that come with your computer, you must be a no-brained drug user. Cute, really.

Yes, that was exactly my comparison, I think everyone who uses any app on their computer is a drug taking 18 year old, even OS X falls into this category, also any M$ apps makes you a lepar. :p

The twisting of my words aside my point is a different crowd in your favourite bar would make you feel less welcome. Perhaps my choice of the new bar crowd was a little harsh, but my point is valid.

I'm not putting words in the mods/owners mouths but I'm pretty sure they don't want to lose pro's that make this site great because they are annoyed with the iApp talk when it is easily remedied.

Many posters wouldnt even bother posting this they would just leave - the number of people woulnt fall because newbies are always joining but the quality would (and has since starting here)

I've spend many many tens of hours on the forums giving advice/making videos/giving screen sshots/ giving one to one advice etc etc etc etc - i dont want to see the forum get crappy....

A number of posts have been deleted from this thread or had content removed. Discuss your points without making it personal.

You know, I really don't see what is wrong or elitist about dorno's idea here. I am by no means a real pro-user but I do delv inside of FCP, PS, and other pro-apps and I would find it even more beneficial if the forums were segregated by application. This by no means says that we have to have anything segregated into "Pro" or "Consumer" sections, but if we put all apps in there it would be nice. What Mac users don't know the difference between an Apple Pro App and the Consumer i line? Really, how much would it hurt to have things broken down into subsections. The only thing I can think of that wouldn't be benefitted by this is the fact that it might push those more exprienced users into forum sections which they are more familiar with or with people who they are on the same level with and away from helping the smaller people, such as those who want help in the iApps. Remember everyone, this is a family, don't let the ties get broken over such a small topic.
