Perian problem with avi files

Dear members, I was trying to play an avi file and during playback the picture started stretching, then quicktime quit! I got a message telling me that the perian plug in may be the cause of the problem! So I upgraded to perian 1.1.2 and the stretching crashing was no longer. But today I noticed that I can't play wmv files that I was playing just a few days ago! Please help!

I have resolved the problem with a restart and emptying the trash of the old perian. Thanks.
