I'm trying to speed my system up a notch so I went and tried to verify my disk and my permissions to see if they needed to be repaired.

Both never get past the swirling blue and white horizontal candy cane phase (never turn into progress bars) and just hang the system.

I assume this is bad. How do I fix it?

edit - if this is an excuse to buy a big 7200rpm harddrive, I'm happy to take it. I'd just like to make sure nothings fubar'd too bad here.

double edit - I can verify permissions, I just can't repair them.

I assume you're using Leopard as this is a known problem with 10.5(.1)...hopefully it will be fixed soon 🙂

Yes I'm using Leopard. All the problems with my system began after I installed Leopard 🙁

Oh well. **** me, I guess. I'll just wait it out.
