Hi all,

Might be a simple answer to this problem.

I currently have a Mac Mini operating as a Home Theatre with my TV, i transfer media files between my MacBook and the Mini via the Wi-Fi network.

The files transfer fine, no problems. However when it comes to modifying or editing the files i have a labourious task of going into the info pane of the file & adding the Mac Mini as a user and then giving it the read/write permissions.

Is there any way that files transferred from my MacBook via this method already give the read/write permissions automatically to my Mac Mini? Instead of going into every file and adding the permissions manually?

Probably is a simple answer to this, but its the first time i've used file sharing between two macs.

Thanks in advance for any help and answers :)

My first guess would be that when you connect to the mini over the network, you are logged in as a 'guest' user via the network connection. You may not realize it, but if you go to the top menu bar for Finder, and click Go>>Network>>, then select the Mac Mini or vice versa, when it connects, there should still be a "Connect As..." button or link there. Click it, and connect as an admin user for the system you are logging onto. Then transfer the files and see if that helps,

My systems at home connect as guest automatically between macs, so I have to manually tell it to let me logon as one of the admin accounts.

If this is not the case, then reply back and we'll go from there.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm currently logging onto the Mini with my MacBook's admin account (via the Finder > Go option you mentioned). The permissions on the files once they've transferred the mini, have my MacBook's admin account as the read/write issue hence why i'm having to go in manually to set the Mini's admin account to the read/write option.

Hopefully i've made some sense, thanks in advance!
