I’m not sure what happened, but a few weeks ago I had an issue with notifications from the phone app. It would say I had a voicemail (visual voicemail enabled) even after listening to and deleting them all. The red dot would be there on the app icon and after every call a new voicemail notification would pop up.

I hoped that upgrading to the new iPhone and iOS would resolve it, but it’s still happening. Best I can tell the actual app notification badge has sorted itself out but the notification after a call still happens…

Anyone experienced this and know a fix beyond just disabling notifications for Phone?

I also have this reoccurring issue. It comes back with every update since IOS 16 which is annoying. I found if you have someone leave you a voicemail, and access it by dialling 1 on your keypad and deleting it that way it should be gone. May still appear like on mine every update but should give you some peace of mind for a while.

Phone call and voicemail management are also affected by the cell carrier and posting about issues should probably include which one is involved.

Had this issue on a Garmin watch (Venu 4 41mm). Tried resetting the watch, the Garmin Connect App, everything. Still came back. THEN, realised that all the recurring messages were (a) showing as text messages on the Garmin watch and (b) were about a year old and (c) all from android phones and (d) actually voice messages on the iphone phone app (not text messages and not iMessages). When I looked for the specific voicemail messages in the phone app on the iPhone ans deleted them, 5 even older ones replaced them in the watch! So wen through and deleted all of the voice mail messages in the phone app on the iPhone. Solved at last!!!
