Some great info.

Didn't find this threat (looked), started one and someone posted a great opinion.

It's all good! As long as you get the information you were looking for.

What is is about YNAB that is so good, compared with these reviews?

This has been answered by others on here.

"The budgeting feature is what sets it apart, in my opinion. It forces you to be very conscious of your money choices. I also like the philosophy of learning to live off of last month's income. I haven't achieved that goal, but I hope to get there soon. It differs in other programs in that it does more than track your money. It makes you make decisions in allocating income prior to spending. Other programs tend to focus on tracking past spending. "

I've tried a host of finance applications for both iOS and OSX. Some had things I liked, but most were missing critical features I needed.

After going through a lot of apps, I finally found You Need a Budget or popularly known as YNAB. I love this software! It has everything I was looking for, plus a great system to properly budget.

Just wanted to know what you guys are using and why it works for you, thanks.

I rolled my own in 1997 and have been using it ever since. It's just a series of interconnected spreadsheets. Has been used on 3 sorts of OS and 3 apps.

Other folks have done this also ?

Seeing the title of your thread, I popped in to see if anybody was talking about YNAB. I've been using it for a couple months and I love it. It took some getting used to at first but it is a really good system. It is the best personal finance software I've ever used. It's an eye-opener to see where all the money goes as well as how you really need to plan ahead with funds each month for rainy day expenses, long term goals, etc.

I'd highly recommend YNAB to anyone who needs or wants to get a handle on their finances. It is a really great tool for this purpose and it is also very easy to use.

X-post from here.

I was a Microsoft Money user for many years. After Microsoft dropped support and life got busier, I stopped tracking my finances with it. I started setting up Moneydance, but I yet again didn't devote enough time to really get going with it. I liked it well enough, but I'm not sold yet if that's the one I want to go with. So now I find myself wanting to finally start tracking again and I'm debating between Moneydance and iBank. Has anyone tried out the new iBank 5 beta (product page | blog post) yet? I'll probably give it a spin before dusting off Moneydance.
