Is tethering going to be free now with AT&T or is that a paid option only?

It is only free if the carrier chooses to offer it for free. Apple has nothing to do with it being free or costing money. Both ATT and Verizon charge for it.

Is this a serious question? Verizon is already charging 20 dollars for hotspot.

Why should AT&T make it free? No.

I assume it will be part of the tethering package for $20 a month extra. If you want it free, your best bet is to jailbreak and use MiWi.

4.3 is only adding wifi hotspot to GSM iPhones....Verizon has it in 4.2.6 they don't need this update...I'm assuming all software will line up this summer with 5.0 though

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

All to stop you from buying wifi tablets & laptops and hotspot tethering them without data plan. Just ridiculous.

I don't think they'll do this in Canada. You can already use Android 2.2+ hotspot without paying extra.
