Ask yourself why you even leaned towards PetSmart or similar Petco at all in the first place. Most people who do, in my opinion, do it out of sheer lack of research for a suitable place for their pup. A good dog boarding facility will require a little more from you than to drop your dog and run. PetSmart was cheapest overall for an overnight visit when I looked into them but then when I asked about walks, outdoor/indoor play, sleeping facilities and everything that I care about for my dog, PetSmart got more expensive by paying for basically anything outside of kenneling my dog 24 hours a day. Just talking to them on the phone suggested that they cared about the fee more than the dog. I got a bad feeling from them and never risked leaving my dog there.
That being said, local facilities can be great but do your research. I do know one nearby me that I used once before I found Camp Bow Wow and I can easily say they shouldn't exist, but that's another story. I cannot recommend Camp Bow Wow enough. If you're fortunate to have one in your area then I suggest looking into them. They have 4 rooms for 4 different sized dogs. Areas for dogs that are inactive to ensure safety and comfort. "Cabins" which are crazy large crates with cots. They get a KONG filled with peanut butter each night and I send my pup with a blanket she likes so there are familiar smells. Outdoor areas where dogs can play and lay in the sunlight and interaction with humans as well. We round the corner in the truck and my dog all but jumps out of the window to get inside. I can watch her 12 hours a day on camera if I am so inclined. For $42 every 24 hours, I can't complain one bit about the care that she is in when she is there. I realize this is pricey but if I have to leave my dog, I want her to be ok. Also, find the facility you want now. My dog had to do an interview of sorts. I left her for 6 hours and they assessed her. The half day daycare (that is what 6 hours is) was free of charge and if she showed signs that she was problematic, she could not be a member. Petsmart, on the other hand, judged my dog based on her breed and advised me that it was likely she would be in a crate 24 hours a day "just in case". They judged that over the phone having never seen her before.
These new smileys really dull down the snarkyness of the "roll eyes" emoticon when compared to the original smiley.
Now when I see the smileys I think "oh. two pals just playing around. busting chops" while the original one made me think "wow. what a sarcastic *** hat"
I lol'ed at this. The theme of this site has and always will be g-rated. It is only suitable that the emoticons do not hurt the hearts of the over-sentisive as well. I am surprised they weren't changed sooner and even more surprised that eye rolls are even still around because it sure doesn't lend to the idea that we should all hold hands and skip around, does it?
