Neither AT&T nor Apple reps read this forum (at least not in any official capacity), and online petitions don't tend to accomplish much of anything.

If you want tethering, jailbreak and use PDAnet, or get a phone that supports it. If Apple and AT&T notice a loss of sales due to the lack of tethering then they'll change their stance pretty fast... but otherwise you'll just have to make do without.
